Simply design consists two part:
1.Structural Analysis
2.Dimensioning the members
Structural Analysis deals with effects of load at point or members of given structure. It incorporates the fields of applied mechanics , strength of material and applied mathematics to compute a structure's deformations , internal forces , stresses , support reactions and stability.
Dimensioning of member is second part of design. It includes the selection and design of suitable sections to resist the effect of loads within permissible limits. It incorporates result from structural analysis to ascertain the proper safe dimension of
sturcture.
